Hydra Energy’s
Hydrogen-Diesel Co-Combustion
Conversion Kit Technology.

Not only is hydrogen ideal for heavy-duty trucking but at Hydra, we believe scaling up locally sourced, low-carbon hydrogen – whether from Hydra or a partner - is the fastest and most reliable path to the highest impact we can have on the environment. With our practical low cost retrofit approach for your existing diesel engines, greenhouse (GHG) emissions can be reduced as much as 40% per truck right now.

Why Hydra is Ideal for Heavy-Duty Trucking

  • Low cost conversion

  • Meaningfully reduces GHG emissions

  • Provides the high torque and power needed for traction and heavy payloads

  • Doesn’t add the weight of heavy batteries that reduce payload and revenue

  • Works in cold temperatures

  • Refuels as quickly as diesel

  • May attract younger, environmentally conscious drivers

What Does the Truck Conversion Involve?

Our practical approach involves local fleet dealerships and trusted mechanic shops retrofitting existing heavy-duty trucks with a proprietary hydrogen-diesel, co-combustion conversion kit that is fully reversible and does not negatively impact truck performance. In fact, our over 300,000 kms (185,000 miles) of on-road testing with professional drivers on commercial routes in some of the most challenging winter conditions proved no loss in power, payload, torque, or range while reducing emissions up to 40% per truck. Within just a few days, your truck will be able to use low-carbon hydrogen fuel with the ability to seamlessly switch back to diesel if the hydrogen runs out.

I really dug deep into Hydra, and I really love their model only because it was a way we can take an existing combustion engine, and we can readily convert all of our trucks in a very short period of time. We also got no range anxiety. If we run out of hydrogen, it goes 100% back to diesel.
